The Business of Sikarios

If one hates you enough to want to kill you, one is able to do so in Venezuela. What one will do is have a price tag attached to your name. One will then contact the professional killers, or famously known as Sikarios to take you down. In few days the job will be done and you will be no more.

And all this can be at a price of 500Bs which is equivalent to about US$150.

According to the information I have gathered, Sikarios started off as professional killers, of Colombian citizenship present in Venezuela. The job of killing was conducted by them. However today, Venezuelans are also doing the job with gusto.

Mostly, the killings will be conducted by guns which are illicitly obtained. One might be kidnapped first and then killed afterwards or might be killed at an instant.

In order to carry out their operations, Sikarios will purchase a random Identity Card to conduct their operations. These cards are mostly of deceased persons but sometimes they might be of innocent people living which will end up complicating matters.

A friend told me of his once dire situation. Once while driving he was stopped by the police who conducted a checkup of his vehicle. As part of the checkup process they asked for his ID.

In Venezuela they will make phone calls, reading your number to see whether you have any impending legal issues. After they made a phone call, he was told by the police that he is a famous Sikario that they have been looking for.

He was shocked to hear this news and even laughed. He was so confused since he was only 16 years old and he had never done anything like that.

He was further told that, he had 20 people who were killed by his hand. This further confused him making him call his parents to come down after realizing how grave the issue was.

Apparently, a Sikario had bought his ID and had committed crimes with it. These IDs are perfectly made and they can be purchased at a hefty sum just for carrying out the business. This time it was his.

A case was opened and he was declared guilty cause all the information matched his, and according to Venezuelan laws there was no way they could have exonerated him of the charges of murder.

He only managed to get out of the eye of the niddle due to the connections his family has. If it wasn’t for that, the next day he would have been in Urubana, one of the worst prisons in Venezuela.

This happens to many people and in case you don’t have the power to protect yourself, as by law you are guilty, prison will be where you will end up. But this also reflects the easiness of purchasing identities.

One person even told me that, if one has money they can buy the Venezuelan ID easily, let alone Venezuelan passport.

But killings are not only committed by Sikarios. They can be conducted by random people who have an access to a gun. For example during robberies it is common for subjects to be killed in case they protest or try to run. This can even be when one is robbed of a purse or a wallet.

I have heard of cases of people that were shot because they had crushed someone’s car by mistake. The owner of the crushed car got out and shot the other driver and then left the scene just like that.

Going back to killings conducted in the name of hatred, I believe socialism of the 21st Century is facing a stumbling block here. If there is anything about socialism is the paramount pillar of a sense of brotherhood among citizens.

The fact that we have devalued life, attaching a price tag on it speaks of the eminent danger to the nation. If I can kill you because I want to steal your purse or wallet, this shows how people take life so easily.
